The Wormsloe Historic Site is one of Savannah’s most picturesque proposal locations

The Wormsloe Plantation, a large estate established by one of Georgia’s colonial founders, Noble Jones (c. 1700-1775). The site is well known for the 1.5 miles oak avenue that created a natural frame. The avenue lined with live oaks and hanging Spanish moss creates an amazingly romantic background, perfect for a proposal.

This natural beauty is what drew Jordan to choose Wormsloe for his ideal Savannah proposal location to his sweetheart Rayven.

Rayven tells us how she met her fiancé, “We actually met in our 8th grade math class. We both went our separate ways in high school and both had relationships. After high school we ended up running into each other at the movies (we lived in the same town all of high school and never saw each other until then) and we were inseparable from then on.”

In December 2018 Jordan asked Rayven to spend the rest of her life with him. Surrounded by the trees of whimsical Wormsloe Rayven said, “Yes!”

We wish Jordan and Rayven a lifetime of happiness together.

Wormsloe Proposal Locations

If you are planning to propose to your partner at Wormsloe there are several options you can choose from.

Oak Avenue: As soon as you enter the Wormsloe gate you will know you have arrived at the Oak avenue. Live oaks on either side of a straight dirt road that goes as far as the eye can see. You have the option to either propose at the beginning, middle or end of the oak avenue. The beginning will likely be the busiest as that is where the initial visitor center and ticket office is. I would advise driving halfway down the road and pulling over. Tell your partner that you want to take a picture without anyone in your way. That is then the perfect moment to propose.

Shell Midden: When you arrive at Wormsloe and buy your tickets you will receive a map of the property. On the map just past the Tabby House Ruins you will see a marker for, “Shell Midden.” This is the beach area that offers impressive views of the marsh and the waterway called Jones Narrow. As she takes in the scenic secluded views ask her to marry you!

Observation Deck:  Follow the path towards the Colonial Life Area and you will come to a wooden observation deck that allows you to walk out above the marsh. This structure is a great place to propose in Wormsloe. This location offers a 180 degree view of the grassy marsh.

Bridge to the Colonial Life Area: Bridges are always symbolic proposal locations. They symbolize crossing over to the next chapter of your life. The wooden bridge to the Colonial Life Area at Wormsloe is a unique place to ask for your partner’s hand in marriage. The bridge has marsh views to the south and lush woods to the north.

We hope this article has helped inspire your to propose at Wormsloe. Wormsloe is certainly one of our favorite Savannah proposal ideas. A special thanks and warm wishes to Jordan and Rayven for sharing their proposal story and photos!
