Paris Marriage Proposal, my story: When I decided to propose to my wife, it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I knew in my heart that she was the one. so making the decision to marry her was the easy part.
While it was a scary and at the same time incredibly exciting, I felt a little lost. I wanted my proposal to be special, but I had no idea how to do it. I also had no idea where to start. My girl and I started talking about a trip to Europe and to me that was IT. A great vacation and a proposal idea – what could be better?
I now had a general date to start my planning. Just having that part figured out put everything in motion. I bought the ring, asked her father and continued my research. The next step was to figure out where to pop the question. While cliché, I could not think of a better place than in-front of the Eiffel Tower. I also chose Christmas Eve as the date which was the first day we arrived in Paris.
We arrived in Paris on Christmas Eve in the afternoon. The ring had been burning a hole in my pocket for days. I could not wait to get it on her finger. We checked into our hotel and started to walk around the city as it began to get dark.
Through my research I knew that the Eiffel Tower sparkled with thousands of lights every hour on the hour. I wanted to coordinate my proposal with the lights sparkling in the background. This attention to detail can make a big difference in a perfect proposal. It was now 7:30 PM. We were both starving, but we had made our way close to the Eiffel Tower and I couldn’t wait any longer.
I suggested we go see the tower and after we would eat. We walked to a bench in the park in-front of the tower and sat. It was now 7:45 PM. Longest 15 minutes of my life! We watched people pass by, and I nervously brushed away people trying to sell us souvenirs.
Finally the lights started at 8:00 PM. I got down on one knee. I said her full name, followed by, “You are my best friend and the love of my life. Will you marry me?”
She was so incredibly shocked that she couldn’t speak. I said “Are you going to say yes?” She blurted out,”Yes, Stupid!” it was obvious that she could not have been happier.
She later told me that while she was sitting on that bench looking at the Eiffel Tower she was thinking to herself that this would be the perfect place to propose. So I basically read her mind.
We are now happily married and proud parents of two amazing children. Most of the pictures on this site are from my proposal, engagement and wedding.
I will also answer comments as frequently as possible. If you would like to contact me directly please email me. Thank you for letting me be a little part of your proposal process. – Ethan
