Sarah-Kate crossed the Atlantic Ocean to find Julien in London. Sarah-Kate didn’t know that her 4-months of studying fashion abroad would change her life forever.
The happy couple met on Sarah-Kate’s birthday. From the moment they met they could not be separated. They talked till the early hours of the morning and exchanged numbers. They knew that their meeting was special and couldn’t wait to meet up again the following night.
Sarah-Kate tells us, “We actually met on my birthday and it was love at first sight! We talked until 4 or 5 am and went on our first date the very next day. “
Julien looked to impress his newfound love on their first date. Taking Sarah-Kate to Sushi Samba on the 39th floor of the Heron Tower. Sushi Samba is described as, “The highest outdoor dining terraces in Europe, offering unparalleled, 360 degree views of the City. Two panoramic glass elevators whisk patrons from the ground to the 39th floor, opening up London from inside-out as the lifts climb further and further upwards.” That amazing first date started a relationship would span an ocean to endure.
Sarah-Kate left London three months later to finish school in Boston. This destined couple had a long distance relationship ever since December 2014.
Sarah-Kate expresses the same love, “There’s no way to describe what it felt like when I first saw him. It would be like trying to describe what water tastes like. But we just always laughed together and I never felt like I couldn’t share anything with him. We tell each other everything.”
In 2016, Julien was ready to propose. He wanted to make his proposal meaningful and an event that would surprise his beloved.
Julien decided that an upcoming trip to Sarah-Kate’s family house on Fairveiw Lake in Pennsylvania would be the perfect proposal location. The lake house has always been a special place to Sarah-Kate. Incorporating fond memories from her childhood shows the thought Julien put into his proposal plan.
Sarah-Kate woke up with a note card and a selfie stick. The note told her to get ready and make herself even more beautiful than she already was. Followed by the instructions that her next clue was by the coffee machine.
The notes carried on around the house raising her excitement with every detailed step. She knew that something magical was about to happen but she still had no idea that this journey would lead to her happily ever after.
With a creative touch the final clue was to text Sarah-Kate’s mom and ask her for the next clue. Her mom answered, “flip the note cards over silly!” Turning over all the cards revealed that each had one word on the back. When the cards were lined up it spelled, “go to the pier.”
Sarah-Kate could not wait for what was next. She threw on moccasins and left the house. As she came outside she looked over at arrows guiding her way onto the pier that made their way through picturesque lake.
As she arrived at the beginning of the pier there was a final note card. The note card read ‘empty your hands and come to me, I love you.’ Sarah-Kate recalls, “That’s when I finally knew what was going on! As the least clueless person you’ll ever meet, I was utterly clueless!”
Sarah-Kate walked to the end of the pier with tears of joy forming in her eyes as she looked upon Julien waiting to propose. Julien had two professional photographers hiding to capture the creative and romantic proposal.
Julien presented Sarah-Kate with a stunning custom made ring. He wanted a ring that united their families and was as unique as their love. Julien incorporated two small diamonds passed down from his great grandmother who wore them as earrings. He then sourced for the main diamond. A brilliant 1.6-karat center cut stone in a solitaire setting. The band is matt finished rose gold; with each small diamond on either side under the solitaire. The care and detail of this ring is a symbol of how much Julien cares for Sarah-Kate.
Their long distance relationship has grown into an everlasting union that will begin to continue together in New York. We wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
