The happy couple’s love story started at an early age. They met through a friend in High school. Like many high school crushes Josh fell for Kelsey first. It took time for Kelsey to become aware of the love Josh had for her.
Josh tells us, “We went to the same school but in different grades. Kelsey had a boyfriend for a long while and I’d always been intrigued by her, but was initially too shy to say anything. I always would ask her friend about her, all the time actually. She would never tell Kelsey, until Kelsey was single again. When she finally did tell her Kelsey didn’t listen.”
Josh wasn’t going to let Kelsey slip away he was persistent. He got the courage to reach out to Kelsey directly. Kelsey was receptive and they started to talk to each other. Little did they know that these early conversations would lead them to a future together. Josh explains that, “She finally came around. I asked her to dinner at a local restaurant and the rest is history.”
For Josh it was love at first kiss. He explains how he knew she was the one, “Because she was down to earth and sweeter than I could have imagined, once I kissed her I knew.”
In most Disney fairy-tales prince charming sweeps the princess off her feet and they live happily every after. Josh was ready to sweep his princess off her feet and decided that Disney World would be the perfect place for her dream proposal.
As a thoughtful future husband he knows that his bride to be loves Disney but had never been able to visit Disney World. This was the start to his proposal plan, a trip to the Magic Kingdom. September is Kelsey’s birthday month as well as her favorite month of the year. Coordinating a birthday vacation to Disney gave Josh the perfect proposal opportunity.
There are plenty of potential proposal locations to choose from at Disney World. Josh did his research to determine what would be the location with the greatest impact, Cinderella’s Castle.
All good proposals take some research and planning. Josh knew he wanted his proposal to start with a bang. Through his research he knew that every evening the Magic Kingdom puts on an amazing fireworks display above the castle. He decided he would coordinate his proposal with the fireworks spectacular.
To capture the most important moment of his life Josh asked Kelsey’s brother and his girlfriend to be in on the plan. They were accompanying them on their vacation and would have the role of photographing the big moment. They were also trusted with holding the precious engagement ring.
Josh describes his proposal, “Right after the massive firework show I asked her to take pictures with me in front of the castle and we handed our phones off to her brother and his girlfriend. After two pictured I asked if she’d take one more. She agreed and I grabbed her hand and told her the real reason we came to Disney. I told her how much I love her. Then got down on my knee in front of thousands of people and asked her to marry me.”
Kelsey was shocked and promptly said yes to her prince charming.
Josh followed one the important best practices of planning a proposal, He found out what type of engagement ring Kelsey wanted. He tells us, “A while back I let her pick out a few things so I knew exactly what she liked. The ring he chose was a Levian ring with chocolate & vanilla diamonds, in strawberry gold from Zales.”
